About Appliance Spotlight
Appliance Spotlight publishes reviews of kitchen, laundry and cooling appliances written from the manufacturer’s own published specifications and documentation. We do not run the appliances we review, and every review says so.
What this site is
An appliance listing gives you a capacity, a wattage, a set of dimensions, a list of programs and an energy figure, and leaves you to work out whether any of it matters for your kitchen. The reviews here take one model at a time and read those numbers for what they imply: whether a 5-quart air fryer feeds a family or one person, whether 1,000 microwave watts is fast or ordinary, whether a 1.1-cubic-foot countertop microwave fits under the cabinet, whether a dishwasher at 55 decibels can run during dinner.
The site covers air fryers, toasters & toaster ovens, slow, pressure & multi-cookers, blenders & juicers, food processors & mixers, microwaves, dishwashers, washers & dryers and refrigerators & freezers appliances. Each review sits in one of those categories, and the categories are what the navigation is built around.
What we do not do
We do not cook in air fryers, run dishwasher cycles, blend anything, or plug in a single appliance we review. Nothing described here has been in a kitchen of ours. A review on this site is a reading of what the manufacturer publishes, written for someone deciding whether that model fits their space and how they cook, wash or store, and we would rather say that plainly than imply hands-on experience we do not have.
We do not publish star ratings, review counts, or exact prices. Where a manufacturer has not published a specification, a review says so instead of guessing.
Who writes this
Daniel Harper, Editor, is the byline on every review. Daniel is an editorial name rather than a person you could look up, and we would rather say so than let a fabricated biography do work it has not earned. There are no trade credentials behind it, and there should not be: a site that states on every page that it does not run appliances has no business presenting an expert as its author.
What stands behind a review is the method, which is written down, and the manufacturer’s published figures, which you can check.
What changed in 2026
For its first two years this site reviewed whatever appeared under an appliance search, which meant replacement blades, microwave plates, dishwasher brackets, air fryer liners and vegetable choppers were reviewed alongside the appliances. In September 2026 we went through all 719 pages and removed 124 from search — replacement blades, lids, plates and gaskets, filters and liners, covers and brackets, cleaners, manual choppers and squeezers, cookware and gas line kits. The 594 pages that remain are appliances. The removed pages still exist for anyone who arrives at them, but they are no longer what this site is about and we no longer ask search engines to index them.

- Microwaves — A microwave is bought by two numbers, cubic feet and watts, and installed by a third the listing puts last: where it goes.
How the site is funded

Corrections
If a specification in a review is wrong — the manufacturer restated it, the listing changed, or we misread it — it is worth more to us to know than to look right. The contact page says what makes a correction actionable.
